Eilish McConville (Women's Soccer) - September, 2005
KINGSTON, ONT (Sept. 12, 05) -- Congratulations go out to Eilish McConville, a forward with our women's soccer team, who was recognized today as last week's OUA Athlete of the Week. A current third year BEng student, Eilish scored five of the six goals as the Gaels dominated the Windsor Lancers with a 6-0 shutout yesterday.
Jennifer Held (Women's Lacrosse) - September 2005
KINGSTON, Ont (27 Sept.)- Queen's Athletics congratulatesJennifer Held, Women's Lacrosse, who was recognized as this week's OUA Pioneer Athlete of the Week. Held, a fourth-year midfielder from Brampton, ON, was a force at both ends of the field in three Queen's victories this weekend. The Arts and Science student scored 11 times, and added three assists. Held also played some stifling defense in the Golden Gaels' 10-4 win over the Brock Badgers. Jennifer is the second OUA Athlete of the Week garnered by a Gaels player since the start of September.
Dani Delaloye (Women's Swimming) - October 2005
KINGSTON, Ont. (4 Sept. 2005) - Queen's Athletics congratulates Dani Delaloye, a first year Applied Science student from Edmonton Alberta, and a member of the Queen's Swim Team who brought home gold in three events from the Head of the Trent swim meet held this past weekend in Peterborough. A rookie at her first university meet, she took first place in the 100m and 400m freestyle events and was a member of the gold medal 400 Freestyle Relay team. This is Queen's third OUA Athlete of the Week Since the start of September.
CIS Athlete of the Week
Eilish McConville (Women's Soccer) - September 2005
Two-time all-Canadian Eilish McConville of Ottawa had a career game on Sunday against the Windsor Lancers tallying no less than five goals in a 6-0 shutout win. The 5-foot-8 striker already had two goals after four minutes of play, after opening the scoring in the first minute of the match. She had four goals at the half when Queen's went to the locker room with a 4-0 lead.
On Saturday, McConville had already helped the Gaels fight the reigning OUA champion Western Ontario Mustangs to a 1-1 draw.
McConville, who played for the Ottawa Fury this summer, was named the CIS rookie of the year and a first team all-Canadian in 2003 after finishing second in the country with 15 regular-season goals. She added seven goals in only eight outings in 2004 to secure a place on the second all-CIS team. The Golden Gaels have advanced to the CIS championship in each of her first two seasons, finishing fifth in 2003 before capturing the bronze medal last fall.
