Bonds and Fees

Performance bonds are required for all tournaments, all BEWIC leagues, and some BEWS and WIC leagues. Bonds are refundable at the end of the season/tournament on the following basis :

  • no defaults = 100% refund
  • 1 default = 50% refund
  • 2 defaults = no refund

Fees are required for Curling and BEWIC Sports Days. They are not refundable.

In general, it is the responsibility of the team manager to pay the bonds or fees (collecting from the team members is by choice of the manager) and pay as follows:

Personal Bonds or Fees:

  1. At the appropriate manager’s meeting, the team representative will be given an Intramural Bond/Fee Receipt form.
  2. This form must be filled out correctly and okayed by the Chief Official or Tournament Convenor. The team manager must then follow the instructions on the form.
  3. The team manager has two days to carry out the instructions. Failure to pay will result in the team’s removal from the league/tournament, and any team on the waiting list will be contacted. Those contacted from the waiting list must pay their bond/fee immediately.
  4. At the conclusion of the season, an accounting of defaults will be assessed before approval of bond refunds is given.

Bonds & Fees Paid by Faculty Societies:

In some cases, the faculty societies will cover the bonds and fees. A list of the leagues/tournaments being covered must accompany the Society Cheque. Any society with an outstanding deficit from the previous year must pay off that deficit before any team entries will be allowed in the current year.

Society coverage sheets must be submitted to the Intramural Coordinator, no later than the first managers meeting of the current year. The cheque must be submitted prior to league commencement (usually after 2 weeks of class).

Bonds:

  1. One cheque of $250.00 to cover leagues and tournaments will be accepted. For those faculties or units playing BEWS or WIC hockey, a $50 bond for each hockey team entry must be added to the base amount. $180 ($80 bond and $100 fee) must also be added for each soccer dome team. Any society paying for mandatory fees must also add this to the base $250.00 (note: fees are not refundable).
  2. An accounting of defaults will be completed at the end of the year and a cheque or account transfer will be issued DIRECTLY BACK TO THE SOCIETY.
  3. At the completion of the Fall term, should there be more than $200 in defaults, additional bond money will be required for the faculty unit in question to compete in the Winter term.
