Synchronized Swimming (W): Queen's Finishes in Third Place at 2008 Canadian University Championships
Kingston, Ont. (February 9, 2008) - Host Queen's University claimed third place in the Team Free Routine at the 2008 Canadian University Synchronized Swimming Championship on Saturday inside the Physical Education Centre in Kingston.
McGill University's White team finished first on a tie break over the University of Calgary. Both teams had a score of 75.333 but McGill was deemed champions via tie-breaking procedures in place from Synchro Canada. Queen's Blue team finished the team competition in 10th place.
In the Novice Team Free routine, Western (Purple) edged McGill University by a score of 61.000 points to 58.5000. McMaster rounded out the top three finishing at 56.5000.
The Duet Free routine results saw Hamilton natives Christa Schnarr and Melynda Saunders from McMaster edge out Rebecca Jasper and Lauren Lepage from the University of Toronto for first place. Queen's combo of Amanda Secord and Krista Wollny were ninth. The University of Guelph's Laura Szigatti and Tracy Messenger captured the Novice Duet Results.
In the solo free routine, Kim Phillips was dazzling, winning the gold by edging Jennifer Gill Wilson from McGill. Phillips' University of Alberta teammate Keesa Elicksen was third. Queen's Bri Botsford finished ninth. In the Novice Solo Technical Routine, Jiwei Yang from McGill claimed gold, while Kim Moffit from the joint Waterloo-Laurier team was second. Trent's Laura Albrecht was third and Queen's lone competitor Cha Yoon Park finished in sixth.
Krista Hayes (University of Western Ontario) took top honours in the Athletes with a Disability category, wowing the crowd with her solo routine.

Canadian Synchronized Swimming Championships @ Queen’s
Kingston, Ont. (February 6, 2008) - Queen's University will host the Canadian Synchronized Swimming Championships this Saturday (February 8) at the Physical Education Centre on campus. The national championship will showcase the top university synchronized swimming programs across Canada and will be highlighted with Queen's looking to take the title in its home pool.
The schools expected to compete are the University of British Columbia, University of Victoria, University of Calgary and University of Alberta in addition to eight Ontario schools, the Gaels and from Quebec the McGill Martlets. Spectators are welcome with the Duet and Trios starting at 11:30, followed by solos at 1:15. The always fan friendly Team competition goes at 3:00pm.
Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for students, $10 for families (at least two children) with children under 10 admitted free and are available by calling 613.533.2500.
Synchronized Swimming Wins A Gold At Canadian University Championships
Waterloo, ON (February 11, 2007) - The Synchronized Swimming team won five medals on the weekend at the Canadian University Championships at Laurier University. The lone gold was won by the Gaels yellow team (Jenilee Keslering, Melissa Dermody, Laura Killey, Meaghan Hartwell, Bess Pauling, Brianna Botsford, Jennifer Dwyer, Lyndsey Cox, Victoria Johnston, Elena Spronk. Coach: Colleen Daly). Queen's won two silvers courtesy of the competitive duets (Jenilee Keslering and Laura Killey) and the novice duet (Madeleine Green and Kirsten Glover) with bronze won by the Queen's Blue Team (Amanda Reid, Hannah Legh-Jones, Hanna State, Chayoon Park, Kirsten Glover, Madeleine Green, Coach: Carly Morin) and by Chayoon Park in the novice solo.
Synchornized Swimming Wins Two Events At Toronto
Toronto, ON (January 22, 2007) - The Queen's Golden Gaels synchronized swimming team had a successful competition at an event at the University of Toronto this past weekend. The Gaels won the 15 team competitive routine (members: Jenilee Keslering, Melissa Dermody, Laura Killey, Meaghan Hartwell, Bess Pauling, Brianna Botsford, Jennifer Dwyer, Lyndsey Cox, Victoria Johnston, Elena Spronk) and the 17 team competitive duets ( Jenilee Keslering and Laura Killey). Chayoon Park also finished third in the novice solo for the team that has their final event of the season in Waterloo February 2nd.
